OF YOU IN THE ARMY!
MY HOW YOU'VE GROWN!
BLIMEY!
THERE ARE NOW
THE WEIRD WORLD OF WIBBELL
Of course, now that we're film sellers rather than film makers, we're suddenly thrust into direct competition in a very crowded market with the multi-million dollar distributors such as Warner Bros, Universal and Paramount. So now the time has come to completely transform our image from small-time British independent film producers to solid International niche film distributors. To get all corporate on you for a moment, in the eyes of the movie industry, having a film to sell is one thing. But being seen as credible film distributors with a strong slate of products is quite another. So a couple of weeks ago during the Cannes Film Festival, we went all serious and announced to the world's press what you guys here on Morticia's Army have known about for ages, the official industry launch of our film distribution label "The Weird World of Wibbell".
And oh boy, our evil plan is working! The press are going truly nuts about us! The launch of a specialist 'cult' DVD label plugs a large hole in the UK market, so we've been getting tremendous feedback and support from all the sci-fi, horror, nostalgia and B-movie fans, groups and businesses out there.
In the film industry this is called "creating a sizzle", and we're sizzling away with the best of them! (Anyone for a barbecue?)
Just take a look at a few of these random mentions on the web to see what we mean:

THE VAMPIRES OF BLOODY ISLAND
Now we're back in London and chained to the desk, sliding all the final details in place for the big UK DVD release of "The Vampires of Bloody Island".
We have the disk manufacturers lined up, the DVD cover printers organised, we're sorting out the barcode numbers as we speak, the many lovely DVD special features we know you're gonna love have all been colour graded, sound mixed and quality checked, and we've waded through all the other five thousand and one irritating and surprising little jobs that make bringing out a DVD so bloody slow, complicated and expensive!
All we have left to do now is finalise the design for the DVD cover, get the subtitles written and inputted and send the whole kit and caboodle off to the British Board of Film Certification and the Video Packaging Review Committee for their exceedingly expensive seals of approval!
Hello again! You asked us to keep you informed about the British independent comedy film "The Vampires of Bloody Island" soon to be released from The Weird World of Wibbell.
So here we are - informing you!
I know it's been a while since you heard from us, so our most grovelling apologies for that. As always, things are CRAZY around here with bats flapping around the belfries and the ghosts in the dungeons playing up! (Well, OK, truth is our head cheese Allin Kempthorne has been away touring Europe presenting game shows. All very glam, but I prefer the imagery of the bats and ghosts, don't you?)
So as you can see, we've been more than just a little bit busy! Have a look at our totally revamped website to see the extent of it. If you haven't been there for a few weeks we think you'll be in for a bit of a surprise!
Exciting isn't it!!
Pamela Kempthorne stars as Morticia de'Ath, the evil vampire queen, in "The Vampires of Bloody Island" coming on DVD soon from The Weird World of Wibbell.
And this is jut a tiny selection! Some of those sites allow readers to comment or add to the news. Go for it! Add your thoughts. Tell them you heard of us first! Keep the world talking about us!
Oh yes, we're going for Total World Domination!
And as the months roll by, we'll be releasing other weird and wonderful cult films from the UK and USA for your viewing pleasure! Keep reading these bulletins to find out more!
SWIMMING WITH THE BIG FISH
Last week we had a chat with Hollywood based distribution consultant Stacey Parks who runs the consultancy 'Film Specific'.
Stacey really is one of the top people in the world to talk to when planning an independent worldwide film release. She managed to squeeze in some time to meet us on a brief London stopover on her way back to Los Angeles following a successful week at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
We discussed international sale agents, market positioning, global distribution strategy, cover art, genre placement... phew! All get's a bit heavy after a while.
All of this stuff makes the actual shooting of the film taking large crews and cast around the country look like a picnic!
I'm telling you, making a quality film is the easy part. Playing the movie industry at their own game on an international sales level, now that's the tricky bit!!!
